Focused skills or widely distributed?

If you see how every player plays, everyone plays differently. Some people focus on a single weapon or skill while others branch out a lot, such as me. What does everyone think the advantages of each are? I personally think I get more skills in the health region and my basic stats when I focus on other things, such as I have with my 3k powerglove skill  . Then again some people think its a bit more costly. Debate!

Depends on what your after personally i skilled heavily into laser rifles but then found that the health benefits of that were rather low so as a side i also took up a little melee combat to up my strength and health points.

However small amounts of skilling into areas that you dont often use are probably just throwing money away ... such as my 40 odd skills in each of the mining associated skills ... cost me alot of money no longer do me any good and i now generally regard as a bad investment of time and money.

However if your just in it for a bit of fun and to see what its like then go for it Smile lifes short and its only money

I decided to branch out a long time ago because I wasn't getting the 1) total skill count I needed and 2) because my base stats looked like crap. I think the trend nowadays is for people ot branch out because after all on very noob mobs to gain 1k skills with powergloves or something is relatively cheap since nobody buys those smacker gloves that are limited.

yeah a bit of branch like i said into a particular area in order to increase base stats and HP is a good thing but just dont throw money away on useless crap that doesnt increase your HP and that you wont use again.

At one time I was making a bit of money skilling mindforce by focusing people and then I would be able to sell the skills and come off with about a 200 ped profit after 3 weeks or so with a herolike reputation. This all changed though after I flooded the market because two other people joined and the market can't sustain that high of a supply of those chips. Now after they have modified the skill system, it's even more impossible to sell them for more than it cost Sad.

Focus, onlock all skills, then stop focusing Wink

if you're good in just one thing, chances of you doing better there are bigger. Also, if you get all unlocked skills first you can skill up in other areas way faster because more skills are at low lvl, plus you have something to fall back on. Smile

hes got a good point focus at first to unlock stuff then spread your skills later as the unlocked skills tend to add health at a much better rate than the normal skills do

I've also tried a little of everything. At the moment I'm having fun with extreme low level handgun.

Well then again if you do what VanBuren is saying, you could easily get 1k skills for what, say 30 peds? I like low level stuff to skill on its fun. My next goal is to bash a few things around with a club ^.^

well, im mainly melee skilled and use rifle or handguns for finishing (no need to hit a mob with 1 HO left with the Honor for 13 pec)
a melee finisher would be kinda useless, axe 2x0 does too much damage, and all melee weapons with lower dam and useful eco break too soon
so i use weapons with max 20 damage for finishing, usually limited pistols lately, but those in all categories, means laser, blp and plasma, since all are maxed anyway
and you never know when you are in the mood to change to say blp rifles
so you have a little head start
