Sweet spot or just good night?

Hello,

Last night I had a great night hunting. Nothing major as far as loots go. In fact alot were no looters but I kept getting the accasional one dropping 20-30 ped in oils and stuff the made each hunt return about 120%.

But... Thats not the point

The skills gains I was getting there really large and I espaecialy noticed alot of agility and Dexterity increases. So much so that I increased 1 point in agility and got the progress bar half way to the next point (and that is in only about 100 PED worth of hunting).

I will be testing tonight to see if I have found my sweet spot for skills (combination of mob, weapon, area) of if it was just a lucky night.

Probably just GL. I think though it is likely to repeat. But after some time everything will be back to normal.

My sweet point when skilling my rifle ages ago was north of Mino, the combination with Combibos and Snarks was a good mix, I went round in circles and the loot was allways OK. I could go out with 5-6K of ammo, then go back to TT machine and get it all back, sometimes with a profit. Then they changed the amps and I couldn't use my amp 103 on my Opalo so I switched to another weapon, but never got the same result. So I almost never return there anymore. Sad

OK - Interesting results

3 hunts performed last night

The first one I was doing as well or better loot wise than last night and the skill gains were similar but slightly less. The skill gains were also less focused tonight (last night there was alot of agility and Dex gains that stood out).

Now the interesting part. As I was returning from the first hunt (outta ammo) a HoF (just over 900 PED) occured with an Exa old (I was hunting exclusively large Exa - typicaly OA and up). When I began the next hunt a few minutes later the loot had gone completely bad and the skills gains were reduced slightly. This seems to leand credibility to the widely held theory that each mob has its own loot pool. It may also indicate that the skill gains may point to mobs that may loot big soon (a streach but I have to have hope).

I switched the hunt to Feff's to see if it was a down turn in my personal hunting luck and found that I had good returns on them but with very little skill gain. These seems to indicate to me that my personal hunting cycle is still high, that Exa's are momentarily looted out and that Feff's are delivering consistant loots so not building up a significant store to feed a HoF.

I'd be interested in hearing your opinions.

Also, thanks to a fellow soc mate, I am reexamining the possibility of links between percption gains and mobs with higher than average loots. It worked a few times in the last few nights but I still dont see an increase in large loots over the span of a hunt. I am currently more of the opinion that any increase in skills shows potential for that mob type (maybe perception shows in your immediate area also?).

What if skillgain is generated in the same way as loots? Maybe a bit modified way but still similar. At least this is what your research shows.

I have also noticed that yes, some areas do tend to give more skills, and obviously different mobs giver different ones. I tend to get MASS skill gain off snargs for every skill, not just agility and main skills but around triple my normal skills i would receive from hunting.. Dunno though, sometimes i dont, maybe it is just luck or something.
