nirfu, this was suggestion for open thread for guests that were in transition or not decided to register account in forum that needed to contact staff administration for one reason or another.. registered users have access to everything (grins)

I just think that we should switch out our server and put an actual chat box on the side where u can talk to other people without logging in or anything. It would display you as guest__ <-- numbers or something. Then logged in memebers would have display as their name. And it would be constantly updated to show when people talk.

At this point the only thing we will have available for unregistered user's is a link to e-mail us with registration problems. Our forum here gets trolled by TONS of spam bots. Anything we make available without registration is just going to turn into a spam can . You all have great ideas it is just an administration nightmare for me to take care of it. Until we had the mob/no mob module added during registration I spent at least an hour a day cleaning out spam bots. It is absolutely incredible the amount of spam traffic we got.

kaiser, the chat would likely be fine, if there was someone there to talk with. i am sorry that there are so many difficulties with administrating this (or any active) site. what other ways can i help out? (give me some specific times to sit in chat for questions??) am willing. i like to help answer questions!!

Maybe if some of use would open chat in background while doing something else and check it from time to time it could work?


btw. Is counter which shows chat users working?

The counter is indeed still having problems. The problem with this is that there is no way for me to make even the moderators chat operators who can remove users. I honestly prefer to keep eveyrthing to registered users. Keep the good ideas coming though.
