Ladies and Gentelmens! We have new engine!

From Client Loader:

Virtual World Entropia Universe Selects State-of-the-Art CryENGINE 2® to Create the Future
25 July 2007

Cutting Edge CryENGINE 2® to Bring Real-Life Look to World's Safest Virtual Universe

GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN and FRANKFURT, GERMANY -- Entropia Universe, the safest virtual world utilizing a real cash economy, has signed a license agreement to use the stunning high-tech game engine CryENGINE 2®, from German developer Crytek, creators of "Far Cry®" and upcoming "Crysis®." This will make Entropia Universe the closest-to-reality looking massively multiplayer online game ever seen. The transition to an Entropia Universe platform built around this new technology is expected to be finished by mid-2008, and will be available to all Entropia Universe partners.

What can I say. It's best (up-to-date) graphic engine. Enormous open areas stunning special effects and life-like vegetation with full support of DX 10. What do we need more? (We need super-high-end hardware this is obvious Smile )

Far Cry was an awesome looking game! It was the first game to use this engine I believe. I remember playing that game just to look at the graphics and not for the actual gameplay  .

Again, I hope they don't go too crazy with this and require super computers to run the game. I mean, we can see that it's possible to have nice looking graphics without requiring high end PCs by looking at games like World of Warcraft. They have very attractive graphics but don't eat up video ram or pc memory for that matter!

Can't wait to see this new VU next year. I guess they'll be coming along with the Chinese  .

Personally i liked the game how it looked back when we still had the old radar n stuff, skill box didnt take up the whole screen n stuff. Low graphics but loots n stuff were way better. So if im correct new VU = Better graphics = Less loot for me! RAWR Sad

Either way, i hope i dont have to buy a new vid card for this, iv already spent enough..

Far Cry used Cry Engine. Crisis uses Cry Engine 2 completely new one but created by the same team.

About loots. It's likely that we will see lower loots. Moving to new engine (this engine wasn't cheap by itself for sure) will cost lots of PEDs from loot pool... I mean... $ from MA.

I wonder why MA decided to add support for Ageia PhysX if they were about to change engine (I know that was quite a time ago but shouldn't they use long term plans?).

On the other hand, I still hope MA has enough $ from Loot Pool or ads already. But as I said. I just hope.
