items with sub pec value

Just recently I noticed that some items (e.g. robot low loss link cable and robot weapon grip) have a value that is not a round amount of pec.
(2.4 pec and 5.8 pec if I recall correctly).

What happes if I tt such an item? Is the value rounded? Or is the internal administration on the sub-pec level?

(suppose I were to have 10 robot weapon grips and I were to tt them one by one, would I end up with 60 pec's instead of 58?)

Just curious, not plannin on TT-ing 1000 grips one by one to earn 2 PED

Enjoy!

I'm pretty sure that the objects are either rounded down or that they are in total kept track of to a much higher degree than is displayed on your pec card. I think that they are rounded down instead because I have never noticed any odd changes of an extra pec appearing yet I've been a pec short many times :-P

Logic dictates that MA likes to keep all the fractional PEC for their own purposes.

I once heard a theory (ie, the movie "Office Space") that if you collected all the little rounded down pits of pennies that's left over from interest calculations, you'd earn an obscene amount of money every month.

Seems to me that this might be a good place to leak some of those PEDs back to MA, thus increasing the "loot pool" (or, as I like to refer to it, "profits") that they have on-hand.

Personally, I think it's a smart way to do things. Too bad if I did it to a real bank, they'd call it embezzeling. Bah... keep your man-made oppressive labels to yourself.

Tested this. TT-ed one robot filter (value 3.6 pec). TT says I am getting 4 pec, but my ped card only increases 3 pec, so guess they do keep your account internally with sub pec values.
Should I file a support case for the missing pec?

Enjoy!

You should. This may force MA to explain this issue. Explanation from MA may (at least in this case) be more reliable than tests.

You should do some more testing, and see if it happens all the time. My guess is you see a rounded value of your pedcard. So when you have 9.995 (shows as 10.00) PED on you card and you TT an item worth 0.016 PED you will endup with 10.011 which shows as 10.01. The next item you TT will endup with 10.027 which shows as 10.03 etc. On moment you increas 1 pec, and the other 2 pec.

But anyway, what for is sub pec value. I bet that 99% of players event do not notice those +- 1 pec differences.

Another example of sub-pec accounting is the repair terminal.

Quite often you will be told the the repair cost x and your ped card will be debited x+1 pec.

I seem to remember other items, basic pump or tubes I think, that had fractional TT value.

made a support case.
Response:

Hi,
Thank you for reporting. This is most likely a round off issue. According to our log files you tt´d Robot Filter at a value of 0.0360 PED. Since the trade terminal only displays two decimals, the value was rounded of to 0,04.

Enjoy!
