Ok, once again. Thank you. New card is in the post :-) However, I decided to bite teh bullet and go on a mining run. Now, what appears is that the only real problem is with pop ups (if you get my meaning). Basically, if I drop a bomb, the finder screen that pops up is nerfed. I can read the text however, and make out the direction arrow, but the graphic is not there. The same is true with map, the borders are nerfed. Inventory, same thing, little window that pops up as you are drilling is nerfed, but ores and ens picture is fine. However, this is not always the case. About 1 time in 10, the graphic is fine, although the health bar always looks patchy. Most of the above problems seem to be able to be fixed by minimising and maximising (also cures the text box lines most of the time). For example, I dropped a bomb, got an unknown claim, right click on deed, and item window is completely unreadable. Minimise, maximise, and everything can be seen clearly. The same action, however, does not fix the skill points window, which is always nerfed. Mininmising and maximising means other skills can be seen, but ones that were visible are now nerfed (can usually see 3 skills clearly on a page, at random points on page).

So, can we conclude that a new card will cure all my woes? I am hoping it's a yes, but am panicing that the new card will make no difference and I will be back at square (or blur) one.

have you tried running fullscreen? Guess that would make the gfx part simpler

Enjoy!

Ah, ok. I was confused about your minimized/maximized in an earlier post.

Enjoy!

Ok, so here is the conclusion.

New graphics card arrived in the post. Discovered it wouldn't fit the motherboard. Swear a lot. Stick new graphics card back in box, arrange to send back for refund. Unplug tower, drive to nearest computer store, instruct them to tell me what I need. AGPX8 apparently. Do thet have one in stock, yes, but it is priced at £80 ($160). Decide to give it a miss. Drive home. Log on to same computer stores website, find they have a £30 card in stock, order online, jump back in car, drive for 5 minutes back to store, see the same assistant with my order number, confirm that it will fit, pay the man, drive home again, put it in, bingo bango I can play again. All lights green and away we go.

Honestly, it works :-D Here ends the story. Amazing what the graphics actually look like, never knew how much I was missing out on!

Many thanks for your help and patience, I am truly, truly grateful. Without you, I would probably have thrown the damn thing in the dustbin.
