The following could be a nice experiment.
I propose to do it with video capture software (e.g. fraps) to be able to analyze the data better.
Go to e.g. atlas.
pick a few mobs (preferably different types):
drag their health bar to the side.
Give them all one shot (bringing them e.g. to about half their health).
Then watch to check the following:
- do they regenerate at the same time & with the same interval
- how much do they regenerate & do they always seem to regenerate about the same.
A recording would seriously help to analyse the data. Unfortunatley I do not have the sw to do that part.
Making a beep timer is not that difficult. Issue is mainly to keep it in sync.
Dutchie.
PS: does it show that I have a technical background
Enjoy!

I did a quick test once, but it is definatly mob dependent. An obvious example are morsusilex. They regenerate very slow compared to other mobs, I think about 5% every 120 seconds while around 5% each 20 seconds seems to work for most other mobs.

Yes. Difficult to test as the only indicator is the actual health bar (if I recall correctly scanning does not provide numeric data on the exact health)
Enjoy!

I did some testing this VU prior to seeing this topic.
Mob regenerate once every 10 seconds.
The regeneration rate averages at 4.8% HP every 20 seconds (5% every 20 seconds). I have died from mobs that I did all but a slim red pixel bar on their behalf and waited for a full regen. I also slashed snables carefully doing 99% damage to them then hanged around.
A mob will fully regenerate it's health in exactly 7 minutes. (avatars do it slower). The HUD health bar indicator (dragged away from the mob, has bigger and less often increases, it cannot be used for small intervals).
Thank you

This would mean that regeneration rate is mob independent.
*avatars regenerate faster *
Yes, I tested different mobs, snables, daikibas, cornudos, cornundacauda and even troxies on 3T (easy to hit and die on them). Waiting dead in close range to the mob, alone on the radar, or sitting around alive after the mob is bored does not matter. Also, an attacking/attacked mob does not change regen speed (although I had that impression on my first observations).
Please feel free to test ANY of my claims

Hm.
MrProper states that regen is mob independent, witte claims that it is mob dependent (and gives morsu's as example).
Someone feel challenged to test this to see who is right? (don't have time for MA today myself).
Enjoy!

When I first started the tests, I was under the very strong impression that regen differs from mob to mob. But it seems now the health bar is reacting differently with different HPs out there.
It is still possible that I'm wrong, feel free to hunt some rocks and see how they regen (should take 7 minutes for full regen, if that's wrong, re-test and post new value here)
