Skill to Profession Calculations

Hi,

I have been running numbers for a while now but i cannot crack this problem... Basically what I am trying to do is get two professions (BLP Sniper (Hit) and Ranged BLP (dmg)) to be the same level. I want to do this so when I activate SIB for one of those professions on a gun, I also activate it for the other profession at the same time instead of using a gun for a while and only getting SIB on one of them. The reason they are distant is because like most, i started with an opalo then changed over to an Isis CB5 because i want to go down the BLP line of Rifles rather than laser for the moment. Now, I want to calculate what BLP Weapons Tech. level i need to be to make these equal since BWP contributes more to Ranged BLP (dmg) than BLP Sniper (hit) and my (dmg) is the one that is behind in profession lvl. Anyway here are the numbers if anyone can calc it for me and run me through your calculations or something:

BLP Sniper (Hit) profession level = 4.655
Ranged BLP (Dmg) profession level = 2.39

What BLP Weaponry Tech level is needed to make these equal? Current BLP Weaponry Tech level is 333 if that helps.

Thanks heaps!

Your hit will almost always be higher than your damage, and always will be unless you do a lot of chipping in the right places. Usually though they unlock at different standings and your damage level will be a bit lower. My suggestion would be just to keep skilling and use the weapons when they do unlock instead of worrying about trying to even them out since you will spend more time/peds doing that than just playing.

I'm not too sure if this is possible at all.
currently with P3a I do not get the sib for dam, but I do for hit.
Then again, although it is called "skill increase bonus" it does not let your skills increase faster.
Basically it will add a bonus to your skills so that you get better stats on a weapon than warranted by your skills.
And most eco of course is to use a weapon that you maxed.

pe-wiki has info on the dam+sib etc.
see http://www.pe-wiki.info/Page.aspx?page=C...k%3aWeapon

Enjoy!

Dutchie.

Check out the skills which effect both profs on the wiki and if there one that does dam and not hit or vice versa then just chip crazy into that one until the 2 of them get brought upto the same level ....

Addz: Thats what I was looking to do but i have no idea how much I need to chip. I don't know if i should chip 40 points or 4000 points. I was kinda looking for a ballpark figure. But yea, if i read what hottygurl and dutchie have said correctly does that mean SIB does not increase your avatars skills at a faster rate but instead just means the stats on the gun are going to be maxxed easier than guns without SIB? Thanks for the replies Smile and just clarify for me what I have said in my last sentence is true. Thanks again!

the weapon stats say when you start to get the SIB
if you go to the auction and click on a chip you see what the effect is for you with that chip (at least skillwise, not 100% about professions)

Enjoy!

He is trying to figure out how much he needs though. Honestly megga it is going to be near impossible. There is not much data on what increases dmg vs hit. There is a lot of data on what increases hit just not dmg. Sorry for the bad news. Other problem is that you will most likely find that skills always increase at least a little of both. As far as SIB is concerned, I feel like it does increase my skill faster. Who knows for sure though. If it didn't then it would make no sense. If you were not in SIB then you would no longer have 10/10 etc. Maybe I am just misunderstanding.

Wow, it seems this topic is still well and truly under debate and there is not too much 100% evidence. Yea sorry dutchie, I need to see what my profession levels will be after the chip, not my skill levels. Yea I always just assumed 'Skill Increase Bonus' increases your skills at a 'bonus' rate. But i guess one could interpret it as a bonus to your gun's abilities or 'skills'. I have to agree, if it's not increasing your avatar skills then it's quite pointless as depending on what line you are following, there are many other non-SIB guns out there that would be great options even if they are nowhere near maxed. I'm thinking I might continue to use the Isis CB5 until I have both SIB's exhausted and only then upgrade to GeoTrek LP120 Niloticus. Otherwise if i upgrade after i have only lost one SIB, with the argument that it gives bonus avatar skills, I am only widening the gap between the professions. Thanks for everyones input, if anyone has any more, feel free to post.

Hi MeggaMorty,

I will try to give a quick answer to your question. Other people have already advised against doing so, so I will not have to repeat that ;-)

At pe-wiki.info check which skills affect your DMG profession and do not affect your HIT profession. As you want to chip dmg, without getting hit up. So that is anatomy and inflict ranged damage (of the skills that you don't have to unlock).

It also lists that anatomy contributes for 20% to that profession. This means that if you have 1000 anatomy skills extra, you will get (1000 / 100 ) * 20% = 2.0 prof levels in that dmg profession.

I hope this helps answering your question.

PS: Don't ask where the division by 100 comes from, but it has something to do with prof levels to be capped at 100.

Thanks borr! That (1000 / 100) * 20% equation is what i was looking for so thanks for that. I'm still unsure if i will use up my peds chipping this or just buy a few extra Isis CB5's and skill it up manually. I'll probably opt for the latter to conserve a few peds and also have a chance at some nice loots Smile. Thanks for your help.

I've proven to myself by manually skilling that it is actually quite a bit cheaper to use cb5's or in my case lp120's to skill it up. I hunted snabble quite a bit and came back with a tiny bit of extra, not much though.

Im not sure about hunting but ive found in manufacturing its actually cheaper to chip up the skills that to work them manually in some cases. Still its always good to just cast an eye over the auctions every now and then and see what good buys you can find.
