Rifle Skilling Advice

Hey hey!

First time poster here on PEABoards! Anyway to my question, I am a kinda noob hunter but basically I've decided to go and skill rifles from the advice of other players. I guess it's kinda obvious that you go to a TT and buy an Opalo first but after that I am kinda lost. Does anyone have some rough rifle skilling guides? Such as something that lists the different weapons one should go through in skilling up with rifles and also the optimum times to swap from one to the next. Any help would be great! Thanks!

You're going to want to stay with the opalo for a long time. Good gun. I think you might also want to pick up an a101 amp because it increases your damage AND your econ!!

Once you outgrow this you should pick up a breer m2 with an a103.

Hey Travis, thanks for the advice! Have you got any numbers you can put to it though? Like when is the most economical time to switch to the breer m2 and such?

Megga, use the opalo until you max either the breer m1a or m2a and then start to use that one. You will have about 1200 rifle before you can use the m1a. The amp to use on these is the A102, not the a103 because it is too big.

Fit out your opalo with an a101 amp when you reach between 400 and 500 in rifle.

By the time you have maxed the m2a you will probably know which way to go fromt here Wink

after m2a a nice succesor is Riker UL1 or UL2. Both can be amped with A103 (i think you loose 0.5 hp with the UL1, but still it is an economical choice.

Enjoy!

Hello,

Dont get too hung up on skill numbers, your skill level will be different (although close) than others. Rather go by HA/CA. Move on to the next rifle up (probably the breer m1a) when you max out its stats. This means the opalo will be your best friend for a long time.

if you really want to know which weapon and attachment are most eco for you go to pe-wiki and fill in or upload your professional standings. Then you can find out all you need (although you'll need to check every amp individually).

edit: next release of EU Companion will allow you to parse your professional standings and upload them to pe-wiki. This is currently in the alpha testing phase.

BTW: I still could use an enthousiastic tester.

Enjoy!

HA = Hit Ability
CA (often referred to a CHA) = Critical Hit Ability

Often the ones who have played a lot forgott that not all in the game is obvious.
To see the informaton of your gun just right click it in your inventory. When you press the magnifier you will get all the stats of your gun (or other wquipment). In the bottom you will see tha Hit Ability and the Critical hit ability.
HA is kind of a number on how much you gonna hit with that weapon. You will miss a lot of shots if the HA is to low. When your HA reaches 10/10 you have maxed that weapon.
CA is the same, this show how likely it is for you to make a critical hit. A critical hit makes double damage.
So the mor HA/CA you have the more economical, you will not waste so much ammo on shooting thin air.

I think the Opalo is almost the only gun you can use in the beginning. When you get abowe 1K ir rifle skill you can check out the Limited weapons in stores or auction. They are marked with an (L).

As stated before I think you will stay with the Opalo untill you reach 2K rifle skill.

Regarding Amplifiers (amps) check my Weapon amp guide to learn more.

Nirfu, thanks for the clarification. It was indeed my assumption that Megga just did not know the acronyms.
I moved to breer M1a when my rifle skill was around 1500.
It depends on how eco you want to hunt, whether you want to start using another gun whenever you get the skill increase bonus, or when you have maxed it. The latter is probably the most eco way.

If you keep using opalo after say 1800 rifle, it is going to take quite some time to get to the 2k mark.

Enjoy!

The opalo is great to start with but in my opinion you should start with the opalo until you max it. The moment the opalo is maxed change to a gun that still gives you SIB. Using opalo until next gun is maxed means you will LOSE out on the extra skills you get from the (L) weapons. Whereas its more economical to do it the other way and only used weapons your maxed with, you will not skill as fast. Dont underestimate the benafit of SIB. Always nice to buy a non-L rifle too that does it a bit more damage per second for hunting bigger mobs as you will gain skills quicker. I managed to get from 1000 rifle to 2000 rifle in 4 days using a VAT-110. Not economical i know, but try seeing how long it takes with an opalo.

OMG this is the second time I about totally agree with Amy. The only thing I would say is if you don't have a lot of money think VERY hard first about ever using a non (L) weapon.

Indeed, please consider not using a non-L weap. You've either got to have uber-skill or uber-bank to use a normal weap.

According to the discussion page at pe-wike (http://www.pe-wiki.info/Page.aspx?page=C...%3aWeapon) the SIB does increase your damage and hitability.
It does not seem to do what the name suggests (give skills quicker).
So the bonus is that you get better skills in the hit and dam calculation, not in the actual skills (of course more dam could be more skills anyway).

If the pe-wiki info is correct as long as the SIB is in effect you operate the weapon better than you should, but still not as good as when you maxed it. So eco wise it is probably better to use an SIB weapon only when it is maxed.

And indeed stay away from non-L weapons, they are highly uneconomical (although I must say I have a just mkII for emergencies).

Enjoy!
