Dodge contest - first noob to 500 wins!!!

Hello,

After my recent introduction to beacons I got the idea that it would be good to have more dodge - and - whats good for me is good for most (in my eyes). So I wanted to encourage people to develope their dodge skills.

This contest is open to any noob or beginner bot hunter with a dodge of under 25. The race is to see who gets to 500 first and the prize will be 1k PEA forum sweat (this may by adjusted upwards but will not be reduced).

Rules
1. NO Chipping
2. Screen shots of your advancement must be posted, in the gallery section, at least every 25-30 points
3. a starting screen shot of your skill including MA timestamp must be submitted to prove initial eligability
4. You must have fun
5. Please post updates of your progress (in text) so everyone can get an idea of where they stand.

Once we have 5 participants I will start a leader board in this post.

Contest starts now and goes until the first person reaches 500.

On your marks...

Get set.....

GO

I volunteer to chip in an extra 2k sweat to the prize pool, and if I manage to get my hands on any more sweat I may be bumping this up to a prize of 4k extra added on very soon so someone can get a name for themselves Smile. Want it grounder?

Woo Hoo - the loot just keeps on rolling in.

The prize pool now stands at:
- 25 ped (courtesy Kaiser)
- custom forum title (courtesy Kaiser)
- 4k PEA forum sweat (courtesy Hottygurl, Travis and me)

just to let you know, I skilled a little dodge last night and got up to around 14 (including a new rank) - still well below the entry limit but I'm gaining.

Well 500 dodge skill isnt something that you make in a day. Will take a while to make 500 skills point. But I like the challenge. Smile

why does it have to be n00b dodgers? why cant it be open to everyone who manages to gain 500 MORE dodge than they have allready? just a thought.

Nice.

How does a n00b get dodge? I know I get it from firearms, but as I have no armor agains firearms, it is quickly RIP for Dutchie.
Actually once tried a shooting session in the ring with a soc mate, but that resulted in hardly any dodge at all.

Enjoy!

Dutchie.

Hello Everyone,

First Addz - I had not considered the 500 more option to be honest. It just did not occur to me. I might be a little administratively painfull if many people joined the race as the target would float with the participants.

Secondly Dutchie - You are right. The way to get dodge is to get shot with laser weapons. I have been led to believe that the ring is an option but I have never recieved dodge skill there myself. I skill it by find a nice friendly bot that is willing to incur ammo and decay costs by shooting me. Most seem willing to oblige. And yes, death comes swiftly to those of us without the right armour for firearms defense.
Try finding a bot spawn close to a revive. Another tip that was given to me recently is that there seems to be a limited ammount of skill you can get from a single bot - my experience so far is 2 dodge and one other (courage, agility, etc.)

Good luck skilling everyone and remember to get those screenies in.

Sorry hotty, you must have misread the rules, chipping is not allowed! haha, well at least i think it's funny Wink

But seriously, very generous of you all. I very much like these challenges! I am still at 21 dodge, so i do qualify...
I think a screenshot for every 25-30 skillpoints is a lot, 500/25 = 20 screenshots. And well, 500 skillpoints is quite a bit as well. But that's part of the challenge! Smile

will post a screenie later.

i think we should chance it to every 100 milestone post a new screenie and give a +- 10 skill leeway ... sometimes you just dont realise how far you are progressing.

Hello Borr,

I think 1 point over is acceptable so, unless there is a huge outcry from the current participants you may join.

Post your screenies and have fun.

Just a note - the screenie every 25-30 skill points is designed to provide encouragement to your fellow racers and to discourage cheating (as most chips worth putting in will take you further than 30 points) - if this becomes too onerous or unmanageable then we will modify the requirement accordingly.

Its not that its just that 10 participants x 20 screenshots each = 200 screenshots .... 200 screenshots x 500 times the page gets loaded = unnescecary bandwidth chew ... besides i dont think ive ever seen a dodge chip as small as 100 ... or even smaller than about 300 now that i think about it

Hmm.. very good point about the bandwidth.

I will change the rles to have people upload the screenies to the gallery. People can then update their progress with text.

I dont think it will be too hard to take screenies every 25-30 or so skill points gained. If people miss the mark by a little I will not be too strict about it (as long as it does not appear to be chipping)
