Karma viewing

One major suggestion I'm starting to wonder is if we ever will have a karma history. For some reason people keep knocking karma points off of me for no relative reason and they never even post why besides one single time. Also, there should be a restriction on th same person continually dragging someone's karma points down over and over, because at the moment it could easily be done by someone who doesn't like you and just wants to drag your points down because they have nothing better to do.
Come on people. If you're going to leech away my karma points at a rate of one a day, then atleast make it clear why you're doing it instead of hiding will you? Thanks.

Did you do anything in the recent past that may have pissed someone off ? If you know who it is an apology usually goes a long way towards making things better.

Also on a side note, I dont know whose bumping mine up recently but thanks Smile

It would indeed be nice to see who gave you karma (+ or -) and why.
Currently it is too easy to bump someone up or down.

Hotty, it is not me who is pushing you down. Let me give a +k to compensate.
Generally I do not give out -k unless somebody says something very blunt or offensive or if I feel someone is grossly overrated.
(actually I think I only gave out a -k once or maybe twice).

D.

Enjoy!

This modification would not be an easy one. But there IS a time limit on karma adding and removing. I forget exactly what i set it to but I know it is at least a few hours. The only person who is able to bump continuously is me (maybe Travis too).

Hello,

I was not aware you could tell people what you intended without posting in the thread.

I agree a list with comments (similar to another site) would be nice. It would also give you the chance to see who you annoyed so you can appologise if you choose to.

:-\ I don't think karma should be misrepresented... If you added more than just one then I don't think thats really fair as karma should be a representation of what people think of your contributions to the forums. I was just irritated because someone kept dropping my karma one point a day. And addz, since you've kept the forums spam count up heres a +karma Wink.

Well hey its people like us that pick up for the slack when it comes to the difference between us and EF. they may have 10,000 members with 70 posts each ... but if you have 1 Addz with 700,000 posts then were all good Wink

Hey don't forget about me i've ended up being a close second place follower at times just I haven't had much time left. Anyways, back to the subject. Kaiser, you say this feature is hard to implement. Is there any trace or log that is generated that you can read when people leave karma feedback for someone?

I think that kinda goes against the idea of the karma system somewhat. Perhaps its better if its anonymous that way a persons karma score is a reflection of the comunities view of that person. If someone wants to tell you that they dropped or raised your karma and give an explaination its upto them. But otherwise if its logged and you can see who dropped yours it will turn into a "i dropped his karma coz he dropped mine" and were going to end up with a whole bunch of arguements that we really really dont want.

Just my 2 pecs ... discuss

Hmm, I think it would work best if a person van only give positive, negative or neutral karma to someone else. This meaning you cannot give -20 karma to someone. Just one, should be enough.

This prevents people from stealing K from someone else or gradually adding 1k per day to themselves with a shadow account. (if it were at all that important).

Personally i think the system is fine the way it is. Anywone with a shadow acount would get shutdown pretty quick. If i had one for instance my static IP would make a big red flag and BAM deleted Wink

As for one K per person i think its important that people be able to constantly evaluate a members ongiong contibutions to the boards and reward or punish accordingly. After all, the mob rules Smile

No its not that Addz. It's that if I wanted to be a pain in the ass to everoyne, I could pick a certain person and neg karma them over and over and over slowly into the negatives and theres not enough people to +karma people a person and negate that effect just because of one sour apple.
