Well I don't think that this word filtering is very good. I know its intended to keep spam bots off the boards but at the same time it keeps us from talking about a lot of things and limits our ability to speak freely. One example is when I tried to tell Kaiser about a pr0no bot... I had to spell it that way because the normal spellings as well as my spelling minus the o are blocked . Can you please remove this filter because I only see it hurting us. We can manage a few spam bots but why hurt the innocent to hit one single guilty man?

If we dont have a word filter it makes way too much work for us and this thing is supposed to be fun. There are only maybe 10 words in there that this applies to.

here is the issue it is FAR from a few bots. I spent almost two hours one day deleting over 40 spam bots from the user database. Personally I do not see it being an issue as long as people know it is not us trying to censor, it is us trying to keep the spam bots out.

Anyway all joking aside. We put VERY few words in the word censor list. I am banning certain repetitive domains (that register spambots) and that seems to help. Bot registrations are WAY down. There are also a couple other things Travis has done that will help keep it down.

Hahaha. I didn't really realize it. If you get email verification up though, then can you please remove the world filter? :-P This might help a bit. Also any ETA on that word filter?

Why do you say email verification wouldn't make any difference? If we have the email link thingy, then we could in turn add something that would have a verification code in it or something, or many other creative means.

That is absolutely true. What I am doing is also banning the entire domain of their e-mail address as long as it isnt like yahoo or something. I also add the avatar name to the disallowed names list. This seems to have cut down spam bot registrations by quite a bit. We went from 5-12 a day to 1 a day or so. Travis has also taken other measures to make the site much less attractive to spam bots.

It is actually search engine robots that bring a lot of spam bots.

As far as ETA on word filter, I am not sure I am catching your meaning or are you referring to removing the short version of pornography?
