Over the last few weeks PEAB has been blessed with a number of spam bots that come here and post topics about various forms of crap and x-rated nonsense. So, I grabbed my vigi out of storage, clipped on the 6a plates and went bot hunting.

What I’ve added is a non-standard(for phpBB) word filter where I can tell it what words to not allow in the forum at all. These words are checked for, and if found, the post is not allowed until these words are removed. I’m sure you have some idea about exactly what words I’ve added initially but we’ll be adding more words as other bots try to do their thing as well.

So the verdict on the bot hunt: small global – we’ll still see some bots from time to time but much less than it is now.
