Mentors

Ive taken on a few desciples for the first time over the past 24 hours and was just wonder what experinces everyone else has had with regards to mentors. What things did they do that were really good and helped alot and what things did they do that were of no help at all.

Also if anyone else needs a mentor look me up ingame
(Addz Rockly Harley)
im usually sweating around the outpost north of PA or hunting argos at twins

well, i had a mentor that was super awsome helped my out all the time showed me the "ropes" the first day and sent me a sweating...day 2 i was given a m2100 and opalo and 500 ammo for each...he told me go and decide which one you wanna use more keep them both and never sell them (i still have them) i did finish and i was his first disciple to graduate.

on the other hand i have a disciple under my wing he is at 97% (last check) and i feel bad for him as i didnt really do the things for my disciple that my mentor did for me. knowing this i can be a better mentor in the future.

i think that to be a mentor you must have all of the TP's and encourage and help your disciple to get them ASAP. i also think mentors should be ready to lose a few ped on opalos and pixie parts to help along the way. most important teach the economy here in EU make sure they understand how to make a profit. lastly make sure you show them the cool sights of EU hook them in to the game.

A good mentor should be willing to help a new player through the game. It is up to the mentor himself to decide if he is going to give any freebies as they are not needed. After all, give a noob a fish and feed him for a day. Give noob the KNOWLEGE to fish, feed him for a lifetime Wink

MY mentor is awesum I only have about 40 levels to go in rifle (dam skill nerf's) to graduate.

She always keen to answering any questions and go on a team hunt. Always online. Good mentors need to be able to give out knowledge freely and also give a few secret hints that they may have discovered.

My mentor wasn't a mentor really since the system didn't exist. His name is Trachinus Gnasher Draco. I still remember the days we used to romp around and I was his loot retreiver. Also he is the one who gave me the coat I currently wear as a give for x-mas. I feel really bad though I forgot which day his b-day is and I think its tomorrow...but i'm not sure...anyone know?

I like to use a similar but different saying ... light a man a fire and warm him for a day, but light a man on fire and warm him for the rest of his life Wink

Yea, my mentor was very VERY helpful. Name is Rex he really opened up the game for me... I know you may not think you're getting anywhere when you help a noob out but it actually works sometimes. Too bad the mentor gift system is such a joke.

mentors can be a pretty great help, i mean, when you walk out of the shuttle, no idea where to go, what to do, and not how to turn, and a person aproaches you, showing interest of your arrival, and is helping you in your first step
also becoming your mentor, the first person in fl, the first person to ask, to discuss problems with
the usualy gift can't even give an impression on how thankful you are as disciple, and it hurts you especially if your mentor who helped you out all the time gets such a crap

my mentor quitted some days after he got me, he came back to release me (same CS clan), i didn't speak really with anyone for months (except selling sweat 1.3 at tp)
but i took the route of mentoring, ofc, to get my uber weapon!!
but soon you realise the reward is more than just the alpha ME, it is really fun to see ppl growing (although several of my ex disciples have more HP than me now!!!), but to see their first clothes, the first global, is very rewarding
so, mentors gain pretty good friends too
so, keep on helping newbies, it might be the uber who rescues you soon Big Grin

Yeah Smile ... i never got a mentor i had too much evade or something from getting lost and just running into monsters for a couple days before someone found me Sad anyway i have 2 desciples atm ... 1 of which has dissapeared off the face of the earth at about 2% and who i dont think ill ever see again and one who is on 21% and making good progress each day Smile

He wanted to be a medic which was easy enough for me to just tell him to sweat and buy a fap ... then sweat die heal urself rinse repeat and sell sweat to pay for repairs Wink

I've only had one really successful disciple and her name is Casay. She's since gotten a store, surpassed me in many ways, plays more than me, and the only thing I can hold to her is my working knowlege of the game haha. She really excelled at the game and has been doing great ever since. Besides that I've only had a bunch of quitters as disciples for the most part.

i have had a lot of disciples... mostly the ones who join for a gift and then disappear..
and no, i do not gift a lot of stuff to the newcomers i meet..

and yes, i answer their questions as best as i may, trying to become their fount of knowledge for all the professions ( i am a generalist). explain how they can set up their hotbars, how to sweat, how and what terminals can best suit their needs, the items on their screen to help them with their work. generally, take them on tp runs and explain the tp system. see how they work out.. it is their choice if they wish to invite me to be their mentors, but i will answer their questions any time if i am their official mentor or not.

i remember the first being in PE that was most friendly. ishkode ish kaikaik.
he gave me opalo and ammo .. i was able to loot enuf within a couple of days.. that i was able to return his, and buy one of my own. i sorrowed taht he decided that he could not stay in EU and he chipped out .. but, i did luck out enuf to collect some of his skills before he left.

as it is, i did not have a mentorship, but i did have friends to help me with my questions. just as i am willing to help others in turn, and hope that those i help can assist more in their futures.

sharing information makes life easier for all

Yes, I got a litle EP for my first disciples.
But I like to help others if I can :-)
