Hi, Folks
Can I ask about the markup procedure that is being used on PEaution?
Specially the basic sheet metal markup reported.
PEauction reports a 159.+ markup, but the ingame graphs shows a upward trend for over a week now with avg. of around 170% and growing.
(anybody else following this remarkable development on B. sheet metal)
Am I correct that PEauction uses the Avg. of all lowpoints on the ingame sales graph to report Markup values ?
By the way the B. sheet metal market seems to be correcting it self.
But still a week avg. of 176.41% |

| PEAuction doesn't have direct access to all auction data (especially buyouts), this can lead to some mistakes in price estamination. Anyway, I still use it to est. prices in direct trade. |

We do not use in game data. The in game data is unreliable at best imho. While it has the ability to account for buyout which we do not, it does NOT remove outliers. What this means is, let's say you put a Korss H400 in auction for 500% and it sells because somebody does not know any better then the in game data shows that 500% markup as a valid price and calculates it in and throws the average way out of whack. Anyone who was around when in game pricing first arrived remembers seeing opalo with a markup of as much as +200. Also as best I can tell in game data uses simple averages which is not a reliable way to estimate values.
Let's say an H400 with 200 PED TT sells for 125% and one with 25 PED TT sells for 150% then in game data is going to tell you the average price is (125% + 150%)/2 = 137.5% which is incorrect. In actuality it should be ((125%* +(150%*1))/9=127.78%. This does not seem like much of a difference but over time the almost 10% over pay makes a big difference to your PED card. In short, weighted averages are certainly the proper way to determine markups especially with the crazy amounts of L items.
peauction uses much more complex mathematics to keep pricing as accurate as possible (considering we have no way to collect B.O. information). Hope this helps answer your question. |
